Kitesurfing
International Safety System
The world's original kitesurfing training system !
Kisstory
HISTORY: The K.I.S.S. system
was the world's first kitesurfing teaching
system. The KISS System was developed in Hawaii by kitesurfing trainers, David
Dorn and John Holzhall with assistance from many pioneer kitesurfers. The KISS
system was th e
first teaching system to offer standards, and training, to promote
kiteboarding safety on an international basis. The KISS techniques have now
been widely adopted by the industry and still form the basis of many
teaching systems. The KISS recommends that every kiteboarder undergo
adequate training from a certified Instructor, We also thank all the many other kiteboarders who have
participated in a contributed to the
program. In 2006 the KISS founder David Dorn joined forces with the IKO to
become the instructor trainer with the new organization and now defers all
the instructor certification to the larger organization. The work of the
KISS continues on through the IKO. In 2007 the KISS instructor training was
suspended, and the majority of KISS instructors and trainers have since been
recertified and joined with the IKO and other regional organizations.
Any remaining
KISS Instructors wishing to be recertified can contact IKO.

WARNING, Kitesurfing is an extreme
sport that requires a high degree of water confidence and a good understanding
of kite flying skills. The lightweight foils are extremely powerful and
often overwhelm the novice and may place them in dangerous situations that
can also endanger onlookers and innocent bystanders. A responsible attitude
and Kitesurfing Training is essential for a safe entry into this sport.
